Hi Guys,
I have been trying to get my Carambola + "Official" Dev Board to work with a 3G USB Stick. I have tried two different brands and both show the same behavior.
Continuous "resetting" [ 212.290000] hub 1-0:1.0: port 1 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling...
Sometimes it does work after several cycles, but highly unreliable!
This could clearly and issue with dwc_otg or then its some hardware related issue? I am using a 1 Amp supply which should be providing more than enough current to the Dev board.
I will also add the the Carambola tends to reset when I plug the USB stick in.
Anyone have any thoughts ?
Thanks, Serge

Hi,
Thanks, but there is no wire. The stick is connected directly to the Dev Board USB port.
Thanks, Serge

Sadly an external Hub is not an option for me.
Thanks for this info, at least I can stop spending time on this.

Followup - I did plug a USB hub in between just to confirm what has been said in the other thread and it seems to work much better now so clearly there is some hardware related problem maybe with the Dev Board Longer term the Hub is not an option for us. Thanks, Serge

Hi,
I dont know what to say other than.
My two 3G sticks have the same problem, others on this forum have had the same problem. Sticking a USB Hub in between has solved the problem for me. (actually not)
From this I can conclude 1. We dont have the same version of Dev Board or Carambola 2. We dont have the same OpenWRT build (mine is the most recent available) 3. My hardware has a defect
Now just as I was typing this post I noticed
root@OpenWrt:/etc/config# [ 5751.750000] hub 1-0:1.0: port 1 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling... [ 5751.750000] usb 1-1: USB disconnect, device number 3 [ 5752.100000] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 4 using dwc_otg [ 5767.280000] usb 1-1: device descriptor read/64, error -145 [ 5767.590000] hub 1-1:1.0: USB hub found [ 5767.600000] hub 1-1:1.0: 4 ports detected
So looks like my Hub is being reset as well....
I will also mention that it does work but the USB resets randomly occur. You might have the same issue if you leave it running for a while.. who knows
Thanks, Serge
