Looking at the bottom of the Carambola board I see something that looks like a LDO voltage regulator, which made me question the following: what are the power supply options for Carambola? Looking at the schematic of the development board it looks like both the 3.3V and 5V pin are fed by a switching power supply.
Is it possible to feed in only 5V at the 5V pin and have it work? And does the 5V pin have to be connected when you are using 3.3V?

At the bottom of the Carambola there is a LDO for making 2.5V for Eth.

So that's only used if you use an ethernet connection?
Do you need both supply voltages for Carambola to work or is just 3.3V fine?

hi folks! Is it possible to use "arduino usb serial light adapter" ? http://arduino.cc/en/Main/USBSerialThe wiki suggests 3.3V TTL serial to USB adapter. The arduino adapter is 5V . Is it dangerous?

You can order something like this from DigiKey - we use them all the time for this type of work, and they're great.
There are actually a bunch of different versions - as long as you get the 3V3 types, you should be fine.
