Build produces no sysupgrade.bin file

I followed the build instructions on the Wiki, and at the end I have the following in my bin/ramips/ directory:
md5sums
openwrt-ramips-rt305x-squashfs.img
openwrt-ramips-rt305x-uImage.bin
openwrt-ramips-rt305x-vmlinux.bin
openwrt-ramips-rt305x-vmlinux.elf
packages
But no sysupgrade.bin
Now, I did make some changes during menuconfig (I'm trying to get the webcam working over usb) and maybe I screwed up an option somewhere to enable the build of this file. Can somebody help remind me what needs to be turned on to get this sysupgrade.bin file to build?

Sorry, it's not clear to me how referring to that wiki page should help me. The first thing the wiki page says is to rename the sysupgrade.bin file. But I have no such file, even though I just did a complete build.
Is there a setting that needs to get turned on in order for the sysupgrade.bin file to get built?

Yup - as long as I don't do a 'make kernel_menuconfig', I'm fine. I can build everything else, I can download to the carambola and run just fine.
However, that make kernel_menuconfig breaks things for me. So I won't be doing that unless somebody tells me it's needed for some reason.
