What is the max frequency of the gpios

Hello together,
I want to control an led stripe (320 LEDs) with WS2811 controller and I would like to know what is the max archivable frequency of the carambola for controling GPIOs?
In some tests I archived max 270 kHz and thats seemst to be very slow. I tried to use the SPI but there is sometimes a strange behaviour and in general I can see a delay of rougly 100 ns after sending a byte.
Are there any ideas how to get the GPIOs faster? Also I have trouble finding a C++ example accesing kernel pwm or gpio driver.
