Default settings for first git checkout

Let's say I have a local git mirror and copied over the carambola2 repository..
Which files define the default confoiguration set, like which kernel modules to build and which software packages to install?

I think you are looking for .config it is usually processed by make menuconfig or make oldconfig but you can edit it by hand.
