Post subject: | Not seeing CAN data |
Just received the USB2CAN and I'm trying to view can traffic for a Chrysler town and country 2013 with no luck... OS: Kali Linux newest release with can-utils installed layer 1: I have verified the pin out of my DB9 to OBII cable outlined below OBII --------- DB9 pin 14 to pin 2 pin 6 to pin 7 pin 5 to pin 3 I Have ohm checked pin 6 and 14 on the vehicle targeted bus: result 60 ohms When I connect the USB2CAN device dmesg shows: USB2CAN converter; firmware 1.7, hardware 1.0. the led on the device remains red I'm using the following cmd to bring the device up: sudo ip link set can0 up type can bitrate 500000 the light then goes green, and I verify status with ifconfig when I use candump can0 or cansniffer can0, I receive no data, I'm not sure what else to verify the firmware is current the device is up and I have verified layer one like 5 times, can someone please help me out with some troubleshooting steps? |

I assume your setup is correct. Please check the output of "candump -l any,0:0,#FFFFFFFF". Only a suggestion: Maybe everything is correct, but there exists more than one CAN bus? Further informations in the article and comments: http://chadgibbons.com/2013/12/29/hacki ... r-can-bus/ regards, Bernd |
