We have just released new short tutorial. Although it is dedicated for beginners to help faster compile own firmware, it will be useful for many developers. If you do not have dedicated Linux machine you compile it on Virtual one. This tutorial is how to quickly setup VirtualBox. There is torrent file where you can download precompilled xubuntu image with all tools required to build own firmware. http://www.8devices.com/wiki_carambola/ ... virtualbox

Thank you Saulius! I already had it set up under Virtual Box but I wanted to check your version (since it made sense to have a separate machine doing just that). Unfortunately, the torrent is dead, nobody's seeding it and there are no other peers (as far as my uTorrent can tell). Would it be possible to provide a download link or would it be too heavy on your server?

I have updated torrent. I forgot to set more than 8G partition size for previous one. Here is updated one: http://www.8devices.com/files/xubuntu_2 ... di.torrent. I am seeding it on two machines at different places. Patience :)

Hi all,
in a week I was able to download only 12% of the xubuntu Virtual Box image via torrent :-(
There are other ways of not growing old?
cheers,
Marcello

Just set the VM yourself.
Just follow the instructions in the wiki.
Should be done in a few hours even if you're not that much into Linux.

Hello to all,

I'm very pleased to announce that I've made a Debian package with the carambola (I.e OpenWRT) toolchain. It could be installed on Debian or derivatives, like Ubuntu, using the usual way, throught apt-get.

Moreover, I've written a simple tool to build an .ipk package very easily.

I'm working on a brief tutorial and an example. I'll post here when finished.

Cheers!

Hello again!

I've made a brief document explaining how to use the package, and how to make a OpenWrt package with your program. I hope it will be useful.

The link is here: https://bitbucket.org/arco_group/pkg.carambola

Please, comment if you use it! And if you encounter any problem, feel free to use the Issue Traker.
Thanks in advance.

Cheers!
