Hi all, A friend of mine have an old (ancient, almost steam-powered) HP DesignJet 450C printer, and he needs to use it for his job. There are no drivers for it anymore for Windows, there's no parallel port in any of his computers, and the USB-to-LP adapters he have don't work. So if I could install cups on Carambola (I am thinking in installing it on a sdcard, and chroot into it after the normal boot), install Samba and share the printer we could print on it over wifi using a generic driver. The software side of the project is not that hard, but the hardware part is a challenge to me as yet. I am thinking on programming some GPIO pins as a parallel port, but it would be easy if someone have already done that and I could take a look to see how it would work. It would work? |
