i have just installed python and it work fine.
but in order to avoid memmory problems i am using an exroot in a 4gbytes usb drive.

That's a good suggestion. I have an old 256MB USB stick lying around, so I'll see how far I can get.

That's a nice idea 16MB flash should be enough. That shouldn't cost too much, right? Just a drop-in replacement.

I think being able to run Python will make it very easy to create applications for Carambola. The full Python install is too big, so maybe we should focus on creating opkg packages for Carambola that extend python-mini so that everyone can choose to install only the things they need.

Well, the 256MB stick didn't work. Went out to get a 4GB and used it as an alternative OPKG installation target (no need for extroot).

Now I'm running into the issue that the python package on the OpenWrt repository does not support SSL/HTTPS. Time for the next challenge

Edit: no need to reinstall. Installing package python-openssl was enough to get SSL support.

I think that instead of install more flash I would add to carambola a microsd conector as nbe31xx.
Any usb driver is even bigger that the carambola card, a microsd would be perfect.
I like carambola very much.
