First of all hello everyone.
I've recieved my Carambola yesterday and have been working with it through the night. I like the build environment very much, it's been real easy to compile a new working image for the Carambola. I've been trying to get Webcam streaming to work. I've connected a USB 2.0 HUB to the Carambola, since I'm going to add USB Storage as well. But the Webcam wouldn't work while it was connected through the HUB. The Drivers did recognize the cam and initialized it correctly, but trying to access /dev/video0 always gave me an I/O Error. However, if the cam is connected directly to the Carambola USB Port it works just fine.
Does anyone here have an idea as to what the problem might be? Is it a hardware issue or a software issue?

Hi, we have one commercial product based on Carambola and we use USB hub (4x) from: http://terminus-tech.com/FE1.1%20Product%20Brief.pdfThe FE1.1 works perfect with Carambola.

Thanks for the reply. So I'll look into different USB hubs from a local supplier first. It's interesting that Terminus-Tech sells the controllers as well as hubs, that'll be a good solution for when my project is beyond the proof of concept stage and I start making the first real PCB's.
I'll post my results on the HUB issue when it's solved.

Allright, so yesterday my new Webcam arrived. Apart from the higher resolution and compatibility with UVC it solved my problem with the USB Hub. So the problem I had was either caused by the ancient Webcam itself, or by the GSPCA - STV06xx drivers.

Hi gedass
We've looked into the FE1.1 chip as we're also working on a product base don Carambola but we were unable to find a location to source these (in small QTYs).
Would you mind letting us know where we might be able to source these chips?
We have a hub here with this chip which we're using for testing purposes but we're having trouble sourcing the IC for own developments.
Thanks Pedro

Thanks gedass
We were looking to source them in small QTYs from EU since the initial run will be small. In any case I can see they're fairly easy to find on alibaba and aliexpress. Thanks for the tip.
Regards Pedro
