gcc & python complier how to install

I have been looking at the Caramola 2 wrt open and been going around in circles how to install gcc & pyton into the o/s. Do you have to re-complie the complete code or can you install it?

I just got the Caramola 2, how do I know if it has distributed firmware?

If you didn't perform firmware upgrade, then it should have distributed (factory) firmware.
