I'm in a similar situation as the poster of thread... I've build the image by compiling the Carambola2 OpenWRT distro, tweaked a few things manually on the running system and would like to propagate these changes to other Carambola boards.

I've looked all over the web and found nothing really which would match my case. I thought that maybe some things changed since 2012 as the original thread and now maybe the uBoot bootloader provides some tools to backup and copy the complete system and not only the configuration files (like with sysupgrade utility)?

...Or maybe there is a way to extract the sysupgrade file somehow and replace the /etc/config entries + add some utilities? My goal is to automate the setup as much as it's possible and void unnecessary steps. Right now I'm trying to write scripts which will use serial port to eg. enable ETH network access... which is not really a good solution.
