PCN: Maca 2 interface revamp makes integration easier

At our clients’ request, our engineers have introduced a new hardware improvement to the new 5th revision of the Maca 2 that we believe will make this highly anticipated long-range data radio much easier to integrate and use.

The following improvements will be introduced to Maca 2 Rev.5:

  • The existing 20-pin I/O connector will be replaced by five separate JST GH connectors, offering greater flexibility and more secure physical connections when connecting external devices and peripherals;
  • A USB hub will be added to expand USB connectivity options;
  • A USB-UART bridge will be integrated to simplify serial communication and device interfacing.

These improvements will be implemented by early November, so all production units we ship release will feature the updated hardware. If any clients have already begun designing around the original 20-pin connector, they will need to adapt their cable connectors to integrate Maca 2 and take advantage of its improved integration versatility.

For more detailed technical information about the changes, please review the complete Maca 2 PCN.
